ABOUT THE BRAND
Léonie Flower Studio a colourful print focused slow fashion brand with an emphasis on natural sustainable fabrics and fun timeless styles rather than trends and fads. Who says natural needs to be neutral?
ABOUT ME
Léonie Flower here! (yep that’s my real name!) I'm a colour and pattern obsessed textile designer and illustrator and founder of Léonie Flower Studio! Designing clothes has been my DREAM ever since I was a little girl, when I would spend hours at the desk in my bedroom drawing dresses (illustrating cartoons about my cats… but that’s another story), and I am just SO EXCITED that it’s finally happening!
It’s been a windy old path to get here though… after a foundation in Fashion & Textiles at Middlesex University my confidence was crushed by not getting in to Brighton to do fashion and I stopped creating for a LONG time.
Years later, a short course at Central Saint Martins reignited my love of textiles and I went on to spend a blissfully happy year at Chelsea doing an MA in Textile Design, where I made my first dress and designed my first collection! I had no experience in pattern cutting or sewing so relied on stretchy fabrics and show-stopping prints, the dresses weren’t exactly practical or commercial but boy were they beautiful!
I honestly had no idea what to do after the MA, I had so much more to learn and social media was still a baby! The last decade has been a STEEP learning curve, trying to improve my skills as a screen printer, to hone my style as an illustrator, and trying to find my niche. However after a several years of feeling dissatisfied printing and making cushions I decided to finally take the leap and design clothes!!
It’s been a few years since I made that decision and most of it has been spent in lockdown but now the time has come to unleash Léonie Flower Studio clothing to the world and I hope you love them as much as I do!
WHO MAKES YOUR CLOTHES
Whilst all the prints and clothes are designed by me, Léonie Flower Studio would not be possible without my wonderful (and patient) pattern cutter and seamstress in Sussex who took my ideas and made them reality!
